This guide provides step-by-step instructions for formatting a USB drive to the FAT32 file system on both Windows and Mac OS.
IMPORTANT:
The FAT32 file system will only be available for USB drives up to 32GB.
Instructions:
- Windows
- Insert your USB drive into your PC.
- Click on the File Explorer icon located in the Taskbar.
- Right-click on your USB drive. Select Format.
- In the format window, choose FAT32 from the file system options. Then, press Start.
- macOS
- Insert the USB drive to the Mac PC.
- Open your Finder
- Navigate to Applications -> Utilities. Click twice to open it.
- Open Disk Utility
- Select the drive you want to format and click on Erase.
- Rename the USB drive (optional) and choose the MS-DOS(FAT) for format.
- Once the process is done, you are ready to reuse the drive with the FAT32 file system to save data again.
