Overview
This guide provides simple, general troubleshooting steps to help you figure out why your display turns on but shows no image. Since different models work slightly differently, these steps focus on the most common things you can check yourself—such as power, cables, input settings, and the video source.
1. Make Sure the Monitor Is Actually On
Look for a solid power light.
A blinking light often means the monitor is in sleep mode or not detecting a signal.
2. Check the Cable Connections
Loose or damaged cables are the most common cause.
Unplug and firmly reconnect the video cable on both ends.
Try a different cable if you have one.
If your monitor has multiple ports, switch to another one (e.g., HDMI 2 instead of HDMI 1).
3. Select the Correct Input
Monitors don’t always switch inputs automatically.
Press the Input/Source button on the monitor.
Cycle through HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, etc.
Match the input to the cable you’re using.
4. Check the Device Connected to the Monitor
Make sure your computer or console is actually powered on.
For laptops:
Press Windows + P and choose “Duplicate” or “Extend.”
Try closing and reopening the lid.
Disconnect and reconnect the cable.
5. Test With Another Device
Connect something else to the monitor:
A laptop
A game console
A streaming stick
If the monitor still shows no image, the issue is likely with the monitor itself.
6. Check for Backlight Failure
A common hardware issue:
Turn on the monitor.
Shine a flashlight at the screen from close range. If you can faintly see the desktop, the backlight has failed.
When to Contact Support
If you’ve completed all steps and still have no image, the issue may be hardware‑related. Document the steps you’ve taken and contact support for further assistance.
