Troubleshooting an Ethernet connection:

Check the Network Adapters in Device Manager

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the System icon.
  3. Select the Device Manager tab.
  4. Double-click on Network Adapters and check if an Ethernet Adapter appears as one of the adapters. If it does not exist, Windows® has not detected the Ethernet adapter or the device driver has not been installed. If there is a yellow mark or red cross on the network adapter, there may be a device or resource conflict. Consult the Windows® manual on how to resolve this problem.

Make sure the physical connections on both ends of the cable are good.

The hub or may not be working properly. Check to see if other workstations connected to the same hub is working.
