Modified on Wed, 15 Jan, 2025 at 4:34 PM

Applies to:

  • VPC35-W53-G1
  • VPC37-W53-G1
  • VPC37-W55-G1
  • Other Models experiencing a default disabled WIFI module.

Instructions:
Below are three effective methods to complete the setup process without an Ethernet connection or enabled Wi-Fi.

Option 1: Using an External USB Wi-Fi Module

  1. Temporarily connect a Windows-compatible external USB Wi-Fi module into the VPC.
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.

  3. Once the initial setup is complete, the internal Wi-Fi module will be enabled automatically, and the external module will no longer be necessary.

Option 2: Activating Windows without Ethernet or Wi-Fi

  1. During the network connection setup, press Shift + F10 to open the Command Prompt window.
  2. In the command prompt, type the command OOBE\BYPASSNRO and press Enter.

  3. The unit will restart. Upon reaching the network setup screen, select I don’t have internet.

  4. Select Continue with limited setup to proceed without an internet connection.

  5. Accept the terms and conditions to continue.

  6. Once on the Windows desktop, select your network and manually input your Wi-Fi credentials.

  7. Windows setup is now complete, and you can add user accounts as needed.

Option 3: Reinitiate Out-of-Box Setup

  1. Press the Windows Key +R to open the run dialog
  2. Type %WINDIR%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe and select OK
  3. Choose to return to OOBE and restart the computer
