The monitor's displayed resolution is provided by the video source, which identifies its supported resolution by reading the monitor's EDID information. The resolution will always be adjusted through the video source (PC, laptop, Blu-Ray Player, etc.) and not the display, itself. Setting the correct resolution for the monitor can provide a more pleasant experience. Please check with the OS manufacturer as the menus can differ between operating systems.

Here is a list of factors that may limit you from running the monitor at its optimal resolution.

  • Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
  • GPU drivers
  • Video cable adapters
  • Docking stations

Make sure to gather the monitor’s native resolution information to help you quickly adjust the resolution and achieve a crisp image. Also, make sure to review your GPU’s specifications within the GPU’s user guide, to ensure it supports the monitor’s optimal resolution.

Windows 10 Instructions:

1. Clicking on the Start menu on the taskbar of your Windows 10 machine and then click on the Settings icon on the lower left.

2. The Windows Settings window will appear, select System.

  1. Make sure you have the Display category selected on the left pane. You will see the different display settings such as resolution, scale and layout, and display orientation. Tap on Display Resolution to view the dropdown menu.

NOTE: The recommended resolution will be the highest supported resolution selected by the source. If the recommended resolution is not the monitor’s native resolution, please refer back to the list of factors that could be limiting it.

4. In case, you have a multi-monitor setup, you will need to select the monitor within the top box before setting the resolution. Tap Identify to identify each monitor’s placement number.

NOTE: Various options are offered under Multiple Displays such as extend or duplicate the displays that can also cause the resolution to become lower. For more information, confirm with your GPU’s specifications on what is supported.
