A USB firmware flash is used when the OTA (over-the-air) update is not a viable option or a complete reflash of the firmware is required.

What is the difference between OTA and full firmware upgrade?
This is a full firmware installation and will erase any apps, settings or data stored in the display. Take precautions before resetting the unit.
DO NOT remove the USB drive after the display boots up until after getting through the initial setup.

Instructions
- Format a USB drive as FAT32. For instructions on how to format a USB flash drive to FAT 32, please see our solution guide: How to format USB Drive to FAT32.
- Extract the following PKG to the root directory of the USB drive
- Upgrade_loader_no_perm.pkg
- Upgrade_loader_no_perm.pkg
Methods to Upgrade the Firmware
- Debug Menu Upgrade
- Power Key Upgrade (Used when there is no video or debug menu is inaccessible)
A. Debug Menu Upgrade Procedure
- Connect the USB drive to USB port on the bottom of the display.
- Using the remote control, press INPUT 991
- A blue debug menu will appear from the left side of the screen.
- Tap Upgrade > Upgrade Main
- The display will reboot and you will see a percentage progress window.The display will perform the firmware upgrade. When finished, the panel will reboot and enter the Android channel. It will take approx. 4-5 minutes to complete the upgrade procedure.
B. Power Key Upgrade (to use when the screen is blank or no access to debug menu)
- Start with the ViewBoard off (Solid Red Power LED)
- Press the Power button to turn on the ViewBoard. As soon as the power key turns blue, press and hold down the POWER button until it starts to flash red and blue rapidly. Then release.
The power LED will rapidly flash red and blue during the upgrade process. When finished, the panel will reboot to the out-of-box setup. The process will take approx. 4-5 minutes to complete.
