How to use Samba File sharing on ViewBoard

The SAMBA service provides file sharing via a network.  When the  SAMBA service is enabled, the user can explore the ViewBoard file system with a PC or mobile equipment.



Applies to:

  • Interactive Flat Panels  (IFP)


To enable Samba

  1. Go to Settings > File Sharing  > Samba
  2. Toggle the Status to On, then set a password (recommended)


Connect to ViewBoard

  1. Ensure that ViewBoard and client equipment are connected to the same network.
  2. On the client equipment connect to the ViewBoard by entering the ViewBoard's IP address with the following format \\ViewBoard IP\share

    Example:  \\172.21.4.188\share
  3. Enter username and password
  4. Once successfully connected the ViewBoard folders will be available



Troubleshooting


Issue:

When connecting through a Windows PC and receiving a similar message 


Solution:

Enable SMB1.0 Support on Windows

  1. Go to the Control Panel > Program and Features
  2. Select Turn Windows features on or off
  3. Enable the SMB 1./CIFS File Sharing Support and click  OK. A reboot may be necessary


Issue

Error Connecting to IP via windows explorer nets "Network Error" "cannot access" (0x8004005, unspecified error).


Solution

Ensure to include the directory "share" when connection  \\ViewBoard IP\share
