Overview / Purpose
When a ViewSonic VPC is used with a ViewBoard and the ViewSonic HD Webcam (VB‑CAM‑001) is connected, the VPC may fail to restart and remain stuck on the startup splash screen.
This article explains that the issue is caused by a BIOS compatibility limitation with ViewBoard accessories and provides the required BIOS update to restore proper restart behavior. After completing this article, customers will be able to successfully restart their VPC while connected to a ViewBoard and supported peripherals.

Issue Description
When Windows Restart is selected, the VPC may stop at the startup splash screen and fail to boot if the VB‑CAM‑001 webcam is connected to a ViewBoard.
If the VPC is powered off completely and then powered back on, the system boots normally.
Root Cause
The installed BIOS version is unable to properly re‑initialize certain ViewBoard‑connected peripherals during a Windows restart. This is a hardware compatibility issue, not a Windows or webcam failure.
Resolution: Update BIOS for ViewBoard Compatibility
Installing the updated BIOS improves peripheral re‑initialization and resolves the restart issue when using ViewBoard accessories.

Installation Notes
- Download the BIOS ZIP file for the correct VPC model.
- Extract the ZIP file.
- Follow the BIOS update instructions included in the package.
- After the update is complete, reconnect the ViewBoard accessories and restart the VPC.
Important: Do not power off the VPC during the BIOS update process.
