A USB firmware flash is used when the OTA (over-the-air) update is not a viable option or a complete reflash of the firmware is required.

What is the difference between OTA and full firmware upgrade?


This is a full firmware installation and will erase any apps, settings or data stored in the display. Take precautions before resetting the unit.  

 

Full firmware files can be requested by submitting a New Support Ticket


Instructions  

  1. Format a USB drive as FAT32. For instructions on how to format a USB flash drive to FAT 32, please see our solution guide: How to format USB Drive to FAT32.

  2. Extract the following folders to the root directory of the USB drive
    • IFPxx50 extract 'upgrade_510
    • IFPxx50-2 extract ‘upgrade_551
    • IFPxx50-3 extract ‘upgrade_8386’
    • IFPxx50-4 extract 'upgrade_9950'
    • IFPxx50-5 extract 'upgrade_1516'

  3. Insert the USB drive into the USB port identified for your ViewBoard

                                                  Gen 5

  4. Initiate Upgrade procedure

 



Methods to Upgrade the Firmware 

  1. Debug Menu Upgrade
  2. Power Key Upgrade (Used when there is no video or debug menu is inaccessible) 


A.  Debug Menu Upgrade Procedure:
  1. Turn on the ViewBoard
  2. Using the remote control press INPUT 9 9 1. This will open the Factory Debug Menu
  3. Select Upgrade > Upgrade All, and select Enter to Confirm

The power LED will rapidly flash red and blue during the upgrade process. When finished, the panel will reboot to the out-of-box setup. The process will take approx. 4-5 minutes to complete. 

 
 

B. Power Key Upgrade (Used when there is no video or debug menu is inaccessible)  

  1. Start with the ViewBoard off (Solid Red Power LED)
  2. Press and hold down the POWER button until it starts to flash red and blue rapidly.   Then release. 

The power LED will rapidly flash red and blue during the upgrade process. When finished, the panel will reboot to the out-of-box setup. The process will take approx. 4-5 minutes to complete.
